6Moons 2014 TAVES
The Devine Sound Stage III was an auspicious entry from a new face. A three-way loudspeaker in a time-aligned stepped configuration, it mounted a planarmagnetic tweeter atop a tuned-port planar dipole mid on a 15-inch woofer reminiscent of some of the older KEF 105s. Accuphase and Compact 845 supplied the signal. There was real promise here. Tremendous detail and jump factor. Impressive new product worthy of follow up. Show price was $6'000. Current pricing is $12'000. - Glen Wagenknecht, 6Moons
6Moons 2014 TAVES Show Report 2
"Next I visited a room hosted by a veteran speaker cabinet maker to some well-known Canadian firms but a newcomer to speaker design itself, Mr. Rohan Amarasinghe. He was debuting a brilliant creation: the Devine Audio Soundstage III loudspeaker. Expected MSRP is $12’000. It’s an unusual design with its drivers time-aligned. A planar tweeter sits atop a planar dipole mid which in turn rests upon a 15-inch woofer. A bit of the Martin Logan sound this was, with airy high notes and a rumble down below but very warm too and so organic. Acoustic guitar was absolutely lifelike on this system. Each time I entered this room, a Mastersound Compact 845 integrated was in the driver’s seat, with Accuphase steering the signal. The cabinetry was beautiful but the setup seemed a bit fragile, with nothing apparently attaching the top two drivers to the large woofer. This could be remedied quite easily, I imagine. I hope this company will thrive." - Tim Smith, 6Moons

Devine Audio were back this year with their $6'000 3-way planar hybrid further refined and tweaked to high caliber. With a nice assortment of CEC transport, Mark Levinson DAC, Copland pre and Mastersound 300B monoblocks... they managed detail, excellent driver integration, tonal accuracy, transient responsiveness and dynamics to compete against the higher tier contenders.
Stereophile 2015 TAVES
Devine Audio is a Canadian speaker manufacturer located in Brampton, Ontario, offering handcrafted speakers on a direct-sale basis. The top-of-the-line Sound Stage III ($5995/pair) being demoed at TAVES 2015 (with a mishmash of electronics, some of it no longer current, the most significant being a pair of 300B monobocks) had a sound that, in a brief audition, was quite promising. Claimed sensitivity is 98dB, so it can be driven by single-ended triode amps. The speaker weighs 90 lbs, and does not look "home made." "Speaking with Rohand, the designer and manufacturer at Devine Audio in Brantford, Ontario, I got the scoop on his 98dB/W/m efficient speaker. The midrange is a dipole planar driver with a rear chamber crossed over to a ribbon tweeter. A special 10" woofer mates to these fast drivers on top. First order crossovers are at 800 Hz and 8 kHz. The Mastersound Compact 845 integrated amp with tubes had no trouble driving this efficient speaker. He is marketing the speaker direct for $6000, but expect to pay a lot more if a dealer network is established. I noted the subtle separation/isolation of the mid/tweeter unit from the bass unit as well as the very nice woodworking here. The sound was equally delicious." - Rick Becker, Enjoy the Music

Divine Audio is a speaker manufacturer in Brantford, Ontario where Rohan Amarasinghe sells his rather unique Sound Stage III speaker. The tweeter is a forward facing ribbon, the midrange is a di-pole ribbon driver with a chamber on the rear side. The woofer is a paper cone design with cloth surround that is pretty close to Eminence, he told me. It sells for $6000 CAD and with 98 dB efficiency, it is very tube friendly. It was driven by a Mastersound amp with parallel 300B tubes from Italy and sounded pretty good. - Rick Becker, Enjoy the Music
Wall of Sound 2014 TAVES
" [...] I want to note that the Devine room had the most modest setup that I encountered at TAVES; no room treatments, no paraphernilia, not even a real audio rack. Rohan used the hotel’s side table to house the electronics, and the sofa seemed to do a decent job of reigning in some of the stray room modes. Some might argue that more should have gone into the setup, but my feeling was that Rohan has invested his heart and soul into the loudspeakers, and wants to present them in a normal, domestic environment [...]" - Noam Bronstein, Wall of Sound

"Last but not least, Devine Audio‘s room sounded amazing – the Sound Stage III’s which I recently reviewed, now powered by the Mastersound 300B monoblocks, fed by a Copland preamp and Mark Levinson digital. I noticed that for Coherent and Devine, the buzz continued after the show, on the internet forums. Very happy for both Rohan and Frank, seeing their speakers receiving some well-deserved recognition." - Noam Bronstein, Wall of Sound

I also liked the Devine Audio room with its interesting hybrid speakers–these things image like crazy and had a rich tonality where guitar is concerned. - Tim Smith, 6Moons
